The Portland-based gift and stationery store Annie|Catherine was one of seven exhibitors awarded the highest sustainability status at this year’s New York International Gift Fair. The store produces all of its products in Maine and prints its cards on FSC-certified paper in a plant whose electricity is generated entirely by wind power.

Sixty artists and craftspeople will show their work at the ART & FINE CRAFTS SHOW AT THE GILSLAND FARM AUDUBON CENTER in Falmouth. The sanctuary, maintained by the Maine Audubon Society, features an apple orchard and groomed trails through open fields and woodlands. The show and sale will be held on August 20 and 21.

Portland-based architect PAUL LEWANDOWSKI, principal of SMRT, has been named a finalist in the Mannington tx:style carpet design competition. Drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of his home state, Lewandowski’s design is a composite of striated coastal rock and images of the Maine forests.

This year’s selection of designers includes architects ALAN ORGANSCHI and THOMAS CHRISTOFFERSEN, landscape architects Anouk Vogel and Diana Balmori, and director of the Rural Studio at Auburn University Andrew Freear. Lectures take place at the Portland Museum of Art. Tickets are $10 at the door.
