Ferdinand, the studio and storefront in Portland’s East End, recently celebrated its tenth birthday. Friends of Ferdinand stopped by the store to get a look at their variety of products, from original jewelry and prints to pot holders, on sale at a discounted price.

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay proudly announced the opening of the Bosarge Family Education Center this past July. The LEED Platinum-certified structure is designed to produce more power than it uses and will both house and inspire educational programming.

The Portland Society of Architects recently announced the winners of its 2011 biannual UnBuilt Design Awards in a ceremony held at the Portland Museum of Art. Both Whitten Architects, in collaboration with Richardson & Associates Landscape Architects, and Kaplan Thompson Architects took home UnBuilt awards in the residential category. Scott Simons received top recognition in the commercial category.

David Wood Clothiers recently moved to a new Old Port location at 229 Commercial Street. Owner David Hodgkins has three stores, David Wood, Barbour by David Wood, and Portland Dry Goods, located alongside one another on Commercial Street. In July, Hodgkins was awarded at the MR Magazine Uptown/Downtown Awards for Retail Innovation in New York City.
