NICOLA’S HOME has recently expanded its Yarmouth location. The brainchild of interior designer Nicola Manganello, the shop and showroom has a traditional country charm aesthetic, mixed with vintage and rustic touches. Nicola’s Home will start carrying items from their furniture line with Ralph Lauren Collection in their expanded store. Stop by this fall to see what the Maine-based designers have created for the classic American brand.

Fifteen works from ELIZABETH MOSS GALLERIES have been sold to Maine General Hospital. Pieces by Maine artists, including Art Collector Maine painter Louise Bourne, now adorn the new wing of the Augusta hospital. Designed by architect Paul Lewandowski, this state-of-the-art healthcare facility provides a new home for pieces like the one pictured here. The Old World by Veronica Cross is just one example of the works curated by the Falmouth gallery for the Alfond Center for Health.

DISTINCTIVE TILE AND DESIGN is carrying a new line of tiles produced by the Montana-based company HighFire Designs. Each piece is custom made and handcrafted in the Big Sky State by local artisans, and will be sold exclusively at Distinctive Tile and Designs’s three Maine locations. The detailed and intricate designs are inspired by the natural world, and feature images of flowers, birds, dragonflies, fish, and more symbols of flora and fauna. The playful patterns can be viewed at showrooms in Portland, Yarmouth, and Rockland.

LIFEFLIGHT, a nonprofit organization based out of Camden, has received a generous gift from renowned artist Eric Hopkins. The North Haven resident has donated a piece from his personal collection to the LifeFlight Foundation to honor the emergency medical services in his community and their heroic efforts. The painting is valued at $50,000 and was sold at a live auction at the Owls Head Transportation Museum in mid-October. Proceeds from the sale will help fund LifeFlight’s air ambulance services, which has saved countless lives around Maine. Tragically, there is also a personal element to the gift; last spring, Hopkins’s son Evan was killed in a car accident on the island.
