This Space, This Way:

Ariana Fischer designed this room around the winter landscape painting above the bed—hues of white, gray, and brown. The Swedish bed, rugs woven from un-dyed wool, and antique furniture all have the same colorations and textural feel of what the painting represents. “This room is very peaceful and relaxing to be in—a great way to start and end the day,” she says.

Signature Style:

“I like to orient a room around something meaningful: an heirloom from Grandma, a favorite color, books, or in this case, a painting. I love to mix textures, giving the room interest without being too distracting and thus creating a soothing respite for my clients to relax in and be themselves.”

Trick of the Trade:

“I center things by default (the bed on the largest wall in this case), as balance intrinsically feels good. In cases where one cannot do that, I use tricks like using coffee table books under a lamp to compensate for a low side table.”
