Transforming Secret Cove

The goal of the cove-side landscaping by Chuck Hugo and Maya Travaglia of Charles C. Hugo Landscape Design was to enhance the home’s existing gardens through intentional bed maintenance and to provide some playful surprises. The property is very densely planted with walkways throughout, so the landscape designers had to consider the flow of traffic while working with the existing materials.

As Museums of Old York’s largest fundraising event of the year, the annual Decorator Show House provides a month-long glimpse into a house beautifully transformed, room by room. More than a dozen designers participated in this year’s show house, bringing together a wide range of talents and tastes. From contemporary to traditional, sleek style to natural materials, colorful palettes to neutral tones, there was something for everyone at Secret Cove. Here’s a look at some of our favorite rooms.
