The Real McCoys

Robin McCoy, Weather Change. Watercolor, 12 x 17 in.
April 2009
In our April art issue, we featured Robin McCoy’s art-filled family home and its transformation from a summer cottage into a year-round haven (“Crooked Cottage Charm”). As the daughter of prolific artists John and Ann Wyeth McCoy and granddaughter of N.C. Wyeth, Robin’s personal art collection is enough to make even a gallery owner envious. Paintings by virtually every member of her family line her walls, each one occupying its own place in her family history.
An artist in her own right, Robin’s works were recently featured in a tribute to the McCoy family at Dowling Walsh Gallery in Rockland where she is represented, along with her sister, Anna B. McCoy, who lives on the neighboring property to Robin's home. Robin often paints in-situ, much like her mother did, as well as inside her studio overlooking the harbor where she finds continual inspiration. “The light changes so fast,” she says. “I have something I’ve been working on for months because the light keeps changing.”
Our pages are filled with photos of paintings by Robin’s family members; here, we feature some of her own works.
